Welcome to Locals Only, a week-long series written by Des Moines locals for Des Moines locals. Today we have Emily and Zachary Gilbert from Pleasant St. You guys, this is one of my favorite local blog. It makes Des Moines feel much cooler than I could ever.

Emily lives in Sherman Hill with her husband in a pre-war apartment. She works in the incentive travel industry and stays outdoors as much as possible. Special thanks to Hotel Renovo for sponsoring this post.

On Friday night, Zach and I packed up after a long week for a little staycation at the newly renovated, Hotel Renovo. The property is a little 102 room boutique hotel that boasts in its included amenities and rustic industrial furnishings.

Their lobby is perfectly decorated in farmhouse cozy vibes and the four-seater lobby bar is tucked away in the corner. I noticed many people taking their cocktails out to the fire-pit or just hanging out on the puckered leather couches (my dream come true.)

The rooms are pretty standard, but I geeked out hard when I saw the Beekman 1802 products on the vanity. As a century old apartment renter, the white and marble bathroom with a steam shower was an actual vacation.

We were bummed when we settled down in our robes and Chinese take out and couldn't find a pay-per-view option, but this only encouraged us to jump in the pool and hang in the hot tub, which was a perfect way to wind down the week.

The next morning we cozied up in the lobby with hot coffee from the complimentary bar and after peeking around at the meeting space and lobby details in the daylight, we set off into Des Moines to enjoy the rest of our weekend!
