notes from quarantine zone 50309

Seven days ago I went shopping for bread and felt overwhelmed by my options and then this week, there’s a sign limiting it to two loaves per person. I think this pandemic is revealing to my generation how truly fragile the world is. Will anything feel the same once this pandemic has passed? I think this is going to be a Before and After sort of thing.

My heart goes out towards the businesses in Des Moines who will be impacted by this quarantine. If you’re able over the next few weeks, order coffee beans from Horizon Line or fish and chips to-go from St. Kilda Surf & Turf.

It’s also a great time to become someone’s pen-pal and Moglea has the most beautiful cards. And don’t forget about our local photographer, too! You could pay for a family session now and have the shoot once things have calmed down.

How are you coping with all of us? I’m planning to bake a ridiculously complicated cake and maybe start that YouTube channel I’ve been talking about for the past year. What are your plans?

Well, I hope you’re doing okay! Praying peace over all of you. It’s funny how all those Bible verses commanding us “do not fear” never felt very relevant or even necessary.

They do now.

p.s. interesting article about drive-in theaters in the Age of Corona.
