Luminarium is Coming!

I'm always on the lookout for cool stuff going on in the City and this upcoming installation seems to fit the bill pretty darn well. It's called LUMINARIUM and it appears to be some sort of inflatable, interactive artwork created by a group calling themselves Architects of Air. Since 1992, it has been traveling all around the world, across forty-one countries and five continents. And now it's coming to Des Moines.

Here's a little more info from the press release,

"Architects of Air have taken their soaring structures across the globe and are now coming to Des Moines' Cowles Commons with the Arboria Luminarium. The inflatable walk-in sculpture from the U.K. is half the size of a football field and is a phenomenon of light, color, and sound."

Admission is $5 per person and advance tickets go on-sale September 1st here. It's wheelchair accessible and open to all ages, but children under sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. I don't know much else about it, but I'm already interested in attending and seeing what it's all about. According to the website it's meant to evoke a sense of wonder for people of all ages. Sounds good to me!
