It's hard to believe, but we're not too far from Hamilton making its debut here in Des Moines! Opening night is less than three weeks away, with Alexander and Co. taking the Civic Center stage starting the evening of Wednesday, June 27th.
Tickets are surprisingly still available and will continue to be released daily as opening night draws closer. I've been looking around and there seem to be quite a few good seats left for the matinee on Saturday, July 7th. But we all know that's not why you're here.
Since starting my job at Des Moines Performing Arts, people have been asking me two questions constantly: how long until Hamilton is here and is there going to be a lottery for tickets? So lets talk about the lottery! Each performance will have 40 tickets available for $10.00. Here are the official rules:
The lottery opens at 11:00 AM CT two days prior to the performance date. It's slightly confusing, but basically if you want tickets for the June 28th performance, you'd want to enter the lottery (two days beforehand) on June 26th.
If you're lucky enough to win, you must purchase your tickets online by 4:00 PM the day prior to your performance. You must use the purchasing link and code that's sent to you in a personalized email from the venue.
Finally, lottery tickets must be picked up at will-call beginning 2 hours prior to the performance with a valid photo ID that matches the name of the winner. Tickers are (obviously) non-transferable and void if sold.
This is your chance to see the show that everyone's been talking about for the past three years! Don't miss "your shot."
